What I collect, and what I don’t.

If you subscribe to the guides

You give me your email address and tick a box to say it’s okay to email you. I pass both to MailerLite, which is the service that actually sends the emails.

Ticking that box is what puts you on the list — there’s no second confirmation email to click. I’ve kept the box separate from the submit button on purpose, so nobody ends up subscribed without having said yes to it.

I use it to tell you when a new guide is published. That’s all. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing is immediate — and if you’d rather not wait for an email to arrive, just ask me and I’ll take you off.

If you book a call

The calendar is run by Cal.com. You give them your name, your email, and the slot you want, and they send us both a confirmation. I see that booking. I use it to turn up to the call and to reply to you about it.

Booking a call does not add you to the email list. Those are separate on purpose.

If you’re just reading

You don’t have to give me anything to read anything here. Every guide is free and complete, with no form in front of it.

Two things still happen automatically, as they do on any website. My host keeps standard server logs — your IP address, which browser you used, which pages you asked for — which is how they serve the site and spot abuse. And your browser fetches guide images from Sanity, my content system, which means their servers see your IP address too.

I don’t currently run any analytics. If I ever add some, it’ll be a privacy-friendly kind that doesn’t follow you across the web, and I’ll update this page before I switch it on.

One small thing: when someone searches the library and finds nothing, the words they typed may be recorded so I know what guide to write next. That’s the search words only — nothing attached to who typed them.

If you click a link on the Tools page

Some of the links on the tools page are affiliate links. If you sign up with one of those companies after clicking through, they may pay me a commission. It costs you nothing extra.

Here’s what that means for your privacy: the link carries a code that tells the company you arrived from my site, and they then set a cookie in your browser so they can recognise you if you sign up later. That’s their cookie on their website, under their privacy policy — not mine, and it isn’t set until you click.

I don’t receive your name or email from any of it. What I see is a count in their dashboard: how many people clicked, and how many signed up. Nothing that identifies you personally, and nothing I could match back to you.

Cookies

This site doesn’t set any. The fonts are served from my own server rather than Google’s, and there are no tracking scripts, so there’s nothing to consent to.

Three exceptions, all only if you choose to interact: opening the booking calendar loads Cal.com, and they set their own cookies. The same is true of MailerLite if you land on one of their pages. And clicking an affiliate link on the tools page lets that company set one, as described above. Those are their cookies under their policies.

Who else sees your information

Only the tools below, only for the reasons given, and only what they need. No advertisers, no data brokers, no “partners”.

Some of these are outside Canada, which means your information may be stored on servers in another country and subject to its laws.

How long I keep it

Your email stays on the list until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete it. Booking details stay as long as I might reasonably need them for our work together. Server logs are kept short-term by my host as part of running the service.

What you can ask me to do

Whatever country you’re in, you can ask me to tell you what I hold about you, correct it, or delete it. If you’re in the EU or UK you also have the right to a copy of it, to object to how I use it, and to complain to your data protection regulator.

There’s no form for this. Email salaam@barakahlogic.com and I’ll sort it out. I aim to reply within a few days, and within 30 days at the outside.

Children

This is a website about running a business. It isn’t aimed at children, and I don’t knowingly collect anything from anyone under 16.

If this page changes

I’ll update the date at the top. If a change actually affects how I use your information — rather than just tidying the wording — I’ll say so in an email to the list.
